Habersham County woman gets life for killing her ex-boyfriend

By The Associated Press

A 50-year-old Habersham County woman has been sentenced to life in prison for robbing and killing her former boyfriend in the driveway of his home in the North Carolina mountains.

Authorities say a Madison County, North Carolina, jury convicted Nancy Hogan of Cornelia of first-degree murder and robbery Thursday.

Investigators say Hogan traveled with her son and his girlfriend from Cornelia three years ago and attacked 67-year-old Edward Praytor in the driveway of his Sandy Mush home.  Authorities told news outlets Praytor was beaten and stabbed, dying from blows to the head.

Police say Hogan and her son returned to Praytor's home to try to hide evidence in the killing.   The pair was captured in northeast Georgia just a few days later.

Hogan's son Brandon pleaded guilty last year to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 to 30 years in prison.
