Gainesville girl killed in Alabama traffic accident

By B.J. Williams
A 8-year-old Gainesville girl killed in an Alabama car accident last week will be remembered at a funeral service this Friday.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed in an email that Daniela Gomez died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 231 southeast of Montgomery at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31.

The girl was one of three passengers in a 2009 Nissan Murano that left the road and hit a tree. Investigators said the child was not wearing a seat belt. The driver and two other passengers in the SUV were hospitalized.

An obituary from Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville said Daniela was to begin third grade at Tadmore Elementary School this week.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10 at 1 p.m. at St. John Paul II Mission.
