Wednesday, Sept. 5 marks the annual Day in the Park for Veterans event, held at Helen's Riverside Park Pavilion along the Chattahoochee River on Edelweiss Strasse.
Each year the City of Helen provides hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the fixings while city council members and employees grill and prepare the meal for military veterans and their families. Desserts will be provided by members of the Helen Arts & Heritage Center.
The cookout is held in appreciation of the services and sacrifices rendered by veterans and will begin at 11:00 am on Sept. 5. Free parking is available at the pavilion and across the street. All veterans and their families are invited to attend.
