A&E 'Intervention' host to speak next week at Intervention: The Truth About Consequences forum

The Partnership for Drug Free Hall will host its latest "Not My Family" community forum Thursday for families struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

The featured speaker for the latest in the forum series is Heather Hayes, best known as the host of A&E's Intervention. Hayes is an alcohol, drug and mental health expert who calls North Georgia home and has a practice in Cumming.

"They do all kinds of things around addiction and they do the intervention - that's why she got chosen to be the host of the Intervention program because of the impact she and her team has made, not just doing interventions but going around the country and the world and speaking," said Reese Daniel with Twin Lakes Recovery Center and a friend of Hayes.

Daniel spoke on WDUN's Morning Show with Bill and Joel on Wednesday, talking about his own struggle with addiction and why forums like the "Intervention: The Truth About Consequences" were so important.

"It's hard to get insurance to pay for a methamphetamine and a cocaine problem, but there still is help out there and these are the things we want to show in "Intervention: The Truth About Consequences" - this forum that's coming up September 6. We want to show that there's still lots of opportunities in Gainesville, even though we don't have everything, we do have a lot," Daniel said.

The forum will be held Thursday, September 6 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Banquet Hall at First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Doors will open at 5 p.m.
