COMMERCE — Commerce football might have gotten off to a late start, thanks to Mother Nature, but the Tigers did not let it derail them in a 56-0 defeat of Providence Christian.
Despite kicking off around 9:30 p.m. due to lightning, Commerce rolled, racking up 328 yards rushing, while holding Providence to just 54 total yards in the win.
Nate Ray scored three touchdowns for the Tigers (4-0, 2-0 Region 8-A), who ran out to a 21-0 first half lead and scored three more touchdowns in the third quarter to run away with the contest.
Caleb Mason also scored a touchdown (69 yards) and paced Commerce with 129 yards rushing.
Nick Patrick, Colin Hall and Landon Bunn also had rushing scores for the Tigers, and Dylan Deaton picked off a pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown.
Commerce will travel to Madison County for the 45th meeting in the series on Friday.
