CLEVELAND — After last week's sloppy victory at Gainesville, Flowery Branch wanted to make a statement upon entering region play.
Consider the statement made.
The Falcons blitzed White County for five first half touchdowns and stymied the Warriors' spread attack en route to a 42-0 victory on Friday night.
Flowery Branch quarterback Elijah Gainey torched the Warriors for 334 yards passing and two scores, completing 20 of 35 passes -- including an 18 of 28 performance in the first half that saw him roll up 314 yards.
Gainey's top target, Jalin Strown, proved electric, catching 7 passes for 109 yards -- all in the first half.
The Falcons (5-0, 1-0 Region 7-4A) also put up 118 yards rushing.
Meanwhile, the Warriors (1-5, 0-2) managed just 160 total yards against the Branch, including 56 yards rushing on 27 carries.
White County quarterback J Ben Haynes completed 11 of 22 passes for 110 yards.
The Warriors will take a bye next week before looking to bounce back against West Hall on Oct. 12.
Flowery Branch, meanwhile, plays host to Chestatee next week.
