VIDEO: East Hall girls upset North Hall; area teams roll

RABBITTOWN – East Hall outshot North Hall in the final quarter in a 48-45 Region 7-3A upset Friday night.

Alexis Burce scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half to lead the Lady Vikings. 

“Our girls competed from the beginning to the end and were able to overcome a really good North Hall team,” East Hall coach Justin Wheeler said. “They are always a tough opponent.”  

North Hall controlled most of the game, but the Lady Vikings didn’t give up. 

East Hall outpaced the Lady Trojans 14-6 in the final 8 minutes to win the game. 

‘I thought we cut down on our turnovers and that helped tremendously,” Wheeler said. “It’s great to see our team show improvement like we did tonight.”

Aaliyah Ellison and Audrey Griffin scored 8 points for the Lady Vikings. 

Grace Hollifield led the Lady Trojans with 14 points.

East Hall's win shakes up the top of the region standings. North Hall drops from first to a tie for second with Dawson County. East Hall moves ahead of Cherokee Bluff into sixth place.

East Hall (8-12, 2-5) will travel to Lumpkin County on Tuesday.

North Hall (13-5, 5-2) will travel to Chestatee Saturday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

CHEROKEE BLUFF 32

MacKenzie Pulley scored 18 points and Isabel Davenport had 14 in the win against Cherokee Bluff on the road Friday night.

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Lady Indians outscored 33-8 in the final 24 minutes to seal the win.

Madi Phillips scored 16 points and Timber Gaither had 12 points to lead the Lady Bears.

Clara White had 9 points, MaKenzie Caldwell scored 8 and Ashlynn Wistoski had 6.

Lumpkin (14-4, 3-4) will travel to White County Saturday. Game time is 6 p.m.

Cherokee Bluff (10-9, 1-6) will travel to East Hall Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.


FLOWERY BRANCH 87
WEST HALL 27

Ashley Scott tied the school record for 3-point shots in the win over West Hall Friday night.

Scott hit seven 3-pointers scoring a game-high 21 points in the win. 

Ashlee Locke turned in a double-double performance with 18 points and 13 rebounds. 

Kinsey Wilson scored 10 points to lead West Hall.

Caroline Wysocki ended the night with 17 points and Ashley Woodroffe had 13 for the Lady Falcons.

Flowery Branch (15-3, 6-0) will host GAC Saturday. Tip is 6 p.m.

West Hall (4-13, 1-6) will travel to Jefferson Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m.

 

CHESTATEE 73
DENMARK 19

Christina Garcia scored 17 points and Maggie McNair had 16 in the Lady War Eagles win against Denmark Friday night at home.

Beth Eddins chipped in 9 points in the win.

Chestatee started a bit slow on offense, but the stingy defense forced several Denmark turnovers.

The Lady War Eagles pushed their lead to 38-15 at the half and, by the end of the third quarter, led 59-17. 

 

DAWSON COUNTY 58
FANNIN COUNTY 32

Maddie Anglin and Sophia D’Oliveira scored 14 points each to lead the Lady Tigers past Fannin County Friday night in Dawsonville.

The Lady Tigers led 33-17 at the half, which included a 20-4 first quarter. They outscored Fannin 25-15 in the final 16 minutes.

Rachel Swafford scored 9, Marlie Townley and Mariah Benson both had 7, Ella Siuta scored 3, and Anna Lowe and Kaylee Sticker scored 2 each.

Dawson County (13-6, 5-2) will travel to GAC Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m.

COMMERCE 27

Eliza Snyder scored 25 points and pulled 5 rebounds in the Lady Lions win over Commerce Friday night on the road.

Jackie Allen scored 12 points and 4 rebounds, Jo Snyder had 7, Sadie Thrailkill tossed in 6 points and 6 boards and Maddy Towles had 6 points and 4 rebounds.

Lakeview (14-4, 3-0) will host Athens Christian Saturday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.


TOWNS COUNTY 46
ATHENS ACADEMY 42

The Lady Indians erased an Athens Academy 15-point lead to win Friday night at home.

Kennedi Henson led Towns with 18 points and Vanessa Floyd chipped in 15 points. 

Towns County (8-8, 2-0) will travel to George Walton Saturday. Tip is 5 p.m.

 

LANIER CHRISTIAN 55
PRAISE CHRISTIAN 12

LCA held Praise Christian to just 12 points in the win Friday night at home.

Shelby Ham and Madison Hughes scored 12 points each to lead the Lightning. 

LCA outscored PCA 31-3 in the first half and 24-9 in the second.

Faith Wasden scored 7 points, Reece Montgomery and Lily Martin had 6 each, Hollie Beussee and Lexie Robertson scored 3 each and Logan Wilson had 2.

Lanier Christian (9-7) will travel to Young American Christian Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m.
