Several northeast Georgia counties have been placed under a Winter Weather Advisory because of the threat of freezing rain between now and early Sunday evening.
The advisory is in effect for Habersham and Rabun counties from 1:00 Saturday afternoon until 7:00 Sunday night. For Union, Towns, Lumpkin and White counties, the advisory is in place from 1:00 Saturday afternoon until 1:00 Sunday morning.
National Weather Service forecasters say that light, freezing rain is expected across the affected areas.
Ice accumulations of a trace to one-tenth of an inch are possible, "mainly above 2,800 feet." Accumulations are most likely to occur on trees, overpasses, and bridges. No significant accumulation on roads and highways are expected. However, bridges and overpasses could become slippery.
