Two large developments on hold for Hall commissioners

Rezoning requests for a large industrial development in the north end of Hall County and a subdivision in the south end were set to be voted on by the Hall County Commission Thursday.

As it turns out, both may be on hold.

Hall County Planning Director Srikanth Yamala told commissioners at their Tuesday work session that Pulte Homes had asked to table their rezoning for a proposed 195-lot neighborhood on Union Church Road near Braselton. Yamala said it was not clear why the developers asked to delay the vote.

"It's not uncommon, you know, for rezoning requests such as this. (Pulte Homes) may want to re-look at their overall density or work with the neighbors or what have you, but they did not mention a specific reason," Yamala said.

The subdivision would sit on just over 58 acres on the south side Union Church Road near Old Winder Highway.

Meanwhile, a proposed industrial development for Highway 365 near the Hall/Habersham county line could also be tabled Thursday. Yamala said Falcon Design Consultants has not asked for the request to be tabled, but they also have not submitted any changes to their site plan since the last time the item was tabled in Fall of 2018.

The development would be on over 200 acres of land, but Falcon Design Consultants representatives have said that the development would likely only take up a portion of that property if approved.

The Hall County Commission will vote on the tabling of both requests at its voting session Thursday evening at 6:00.
