A Winter Storm Watch has been posted for the Gainesville area for up to two inches of snow Monday night and Tuesday, with higher amounts in mountain areas.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service say the greatest chances of snow lie along and north and west of a line from near LaGrange to Atlanta, Gainesville, and Clayton.
The system bringing the potential for snow into Georgia will be accompanied by some of the coldest weather of the season. Temperatures for most of the week at night are expected to dip into the teens and low 20s across much of north Georgia, with daytime highs only getting into the 40s.
