*Today is the day for the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County’s 54th Annual Thrift Sale.  9:00-2:00 at the Gainesville Civic Center. $1 admission  No strollers allowed.

*The gates opened Thursday for the 25th-anniversary edition of the Cumming Country Fair.  It runs through Oct. 13.

*A rate reduction went into effect Oct. 1 for most Habersham EMC members.  This Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment is expected to mean savings of $4.44 for every 1,000-kilowatt-hours used.

*The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission Career Coach will visit the Sharon Forks Library in Cumming October 16 from 11 AM – 2:30 PM to help job seekers with their efforts to locate work.  There is no charge for this service.

*The Hall County Republican Party's October Forum will feature discussions on "Red Flag" laws with speaker John Monroe (Vice President and Lead Attorney for Georgia Carry) and human trafficking and child domestic violence with speaker Mike Queen (Founder of Night of Awareness).  The meeting will be held Oct. 12 beginning at 10:00 at the East Hall Community Center.

*The Habersham Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Halloween Costume Ball October 24 from 6-9 pm at Grant Street Music Room.  21 and older only.  Visit habershamchamber.com to purchase tickets or find Habersham Chamber on Facebook. $15 for members; $20 non-members.

*Hardman Farms, a Georgia Historic Site near Blairsville, is hosting a "Mountain Farm Celebration" Oct. 26, 10:00-4:00, featuring hands-on pioneer skills exhibits, traditional craft vendors, local authors and historians, and apple cider from a hand-cranked press, among other things. Grounds admission fee: $6 per person. Children under 6 free.

*Brock Turner of Jasper brought a two-day total of 10 bass to the scale weighing 33 pounds, 7 ounces, to win the two-day T-H Marine FLW Bass Fishing League Bulldog Division super-tournament on Lake Lanier last Sunday. *The Heart Center of Northeast Georgia Medical Center has a new cardiologist. Falgun Patel will be seeing patients in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center cardiac catheterization lab.

*Gwinnett County is hosting a job fair Oct. 12, 8:00-4:00, at the county Corrections’ headquarters on Hope Road in Lawrenceville.  The county is currently hiring for Correctional Officer and Correctional Officer Senior positions.
