Phillip Sartain Helping Hands award goes to late John Gram

By AccessWDUN Staff

This year's Phillip Sartain Helping Hands Award from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lanier has been awarded posthumously to John Gram.

Gram, a Gainesville attorney, died earlier this year.

According to the clubs, the award is given annually to an individual who has – through service, dedication, and commitment – improved children’s lives at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier.

"For over three decades, John was an amazing ambassador for kids and their families and touched the lives of thousands of young people, colleagues, volunteers, and Boys & Girls Clubs employees," according to an email from the clubs.  "He was a great friend and inspiration and will be tremendously missed."

The award was presented at this year's Be Great Gala fundraiser, which was held this week.

One other award was presented - The Building Great Futures Community Partnership Award, which went to Hargrove Engineers and Constructors in recognition of "their demonstrated commitment to young people in our community through leadership and service."
