HELEN — Andrew Jones and Caylee Wagner captured the Region 7-3A individual titles and led North Hall to a sweep of the team titles on Wednesday at Unicoi State Park.
Jones edged Dawson County's Collin Kilgore by just more than :03 seconds to capture the individual title.
Dawson County's Ben McGinnis finished in third, North Hall's Noah Wagner and Bryce Hartis finished fourth and fifth.
In the team battle, the Trojans took the title by two points over Dawson County, 29-31.
North Hall, Dawson County, GAC and Cherokee Bluff all advance to the Class 3A state meet on Nov. 2 at Carrollton High School. The meet will begin at 12:30 p.m.
On the girl's side, Wagner outpaced Cherokee Bluff's Sierra Wainer 18:54.50 to 20:05.70 to win the title.
Bluff's Adison Myers finished in third. Lumpkin County's Abbie Hilchie finished fourth and North Hall's Elissa Oliver game in fifth.
North Hall's overall individual finishes led them to the team title over Cherokee Bluff, 39-45.
North Hall, Cherokee Bluff, Dawson County and Lumpkin County will advance to the Class 3A state meet on Nov. 2 at Carrollton High School. The meet will begin at 1:15 p.m.
Also held at Unicoi was the Region 8-5A meet. Loganville swept the team titles with both the Johnson boys and girls teams and the Buford girls and boys teams advancing to the state meet.
In the 8-5A boys race, Johnson's Josh Flores and Luis Alvarado finished third and fourth, respectively, with Cesar Gomez taking ninth in the individual meet. The Knights finished second with 48 points. Loganville finished with 27. Buford tallied 92 points for fourth with Ben Archer taking 11th for the Wolves' highest finisher.
In the 8-5A girls race, Loganville nipped Buford 43-49. The Lady Knights finished fourth with 91 points. The Lady Wolves' Carolyn Calzada and Jordan Sullivan took third and fourth, respectively. Johnson's highest finisher was Taylor Farmer, who finished fifth.
