A 92-year-old woman was struck and killed Thursday night by a pickup truck as she attempted to cross Limestone Parkway in Gainesville, police said.
Bernice Thurmond of Gainesville was crossing Limestone Parkway just north of its intersection with Lighthouse Manor Drive at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when she was hit by a southbound Honda Ridgeline, according to a news release from the Gainesville Police Department. Paramedics provided first aid, but she died at the scene.
The driver of the pick-up truck remained on scene and immediately reported the incident to 911. The investigation is continuing, but no charges are expected.
