*Four Lanier Technical College students have been selected as the college’s semi-finalists for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership. They are Emily Blaze, Gwinnett County; Angela Brewer, Gwinnett County, Rachel Lee, Barrow County, and Dustin Penner, Lumpkin County. GOAL honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students. The next step is for a panel of business, civic and industry leaders from the community to interview and evaluate these four students and select one to be the college’s 2020 GOAL winner.
*Forsyth County Parks & Recreation has received the 2019 Georgia Recreation and Park Association District 7 Agency of the Year Award. In addition, Youth Athletic Supervisor Clayton Munnell received the Recreation Programmer of the Year Award; Denmark High School student Olivia Edge was named Volunteer Service Award winner; and, the President of the Forsyth County Parks Foundation Kristin Morrissey received the State Volunteer Service Award.

*Gwinnett Animal Welfare kicks off its annual after-Thanksgiving pet adoption "Name Your Own Price" event Nov. 30.
*Jackson County was recently awarded an Employee Safety Grant from the Association County Commissioners of Georgia – Group Self-Insurance Workers’ Compensation Fund.
*Lakewood Baptist of Gainesville is serving as a regional collection center again this year for Samaritan's Purse's "Operation Christmas Child." Church volunteers are accepting shoeboxes at the church 10:00--5:00 Tuesday-Friday.
*Non-perishable food items were donated recently by Peach State Federal Credit Union members and staff and delivered to the Neighbors 4 Neighbors Food Pantry in Toccoa. The credit union collects items throughout the year at all branch locations and makes quarterly donations to food banks in their service area.
