*Hall County's administrative offices, courts, libraries, animal shelter, and community centers will be closed Dec. 24-25 for the Christmas holidays, as well as Jan. 1 for the New Year's holiday.  The landfill will be closed Christmas Eve Day and Christmas and New Year's Day.  Compactor sites will be closed Christmas Day only. Many county services are always available online at hallcounty.org, where you can also check holiday schedules for other county offices and services. 

*Lanier Technical College named 178 students to the President's List and 203 students to the Honor Roll for Fall Term 2019.  Click here to see the full list.

*Five recruits recently graduated from the Barrow County Emergency Services training program.  They are Jacob Walls, Gunter Hester, Blake Montgomery, Taylor Bryant, and Josh Tiller.

*The Gainesville-based Latino Conservative Organization is conducting a shoe drive between now and Dec. 24, collecting shoes for veterans in the local area.  Call 678.614.5011.  Donations may be left at 747 Queen City Parkway, Suite B Gainesville, 10:00-4:00, Monday-Friday. 

*Over the past few weeks, students in Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School’s Lower and Middle Schools have been ordering and gathering donations for Calvary Home for Children in Anderson, SC.

*The North Hall wrestling team delivered close to 80 books to neighboring elementary schools just in time for the holidays as part of the “Literacy for Hall” initiative. The “Pinning the Literacy Gap” will be an ongoing community service project throughout the season. 

*Senator  Steve Gooch (R– Dahlonega) and two other GOP members of the state Senate gave pre-filed a resolution condemning Congress for the impeachment of President Trump.  They plan to introduce it when the Georgia General Assembly convenes January  13.
