An Ellijay man has been arrested after authorities said he tried to meet with a juvenile for sex in Cherokee County.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported to media outlets that 68-year-old Jimmy Lee Bowling was wearing a Santa hat when he showed up to meet someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl on Tuesday. Instead, he was met by undercover investigators who had been conversing with Bowling online.
Bowling faces a number of charges, including attempted child molestation, pandering, sexual exploitation of a child and obscene internet contact with a minor.
At last report, Bowling remained in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
