GSP: Non-life threatening injuries suffered in Hall Co. crash between tractor trailer and pickup truck

By AccessWDUN Staff

A traffic accident between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck east of Gainesville Sunday afternoon looked much worse than it was.

The Georgia State Patrol was called to the scene of the crash at US 129 and Blackstock Road at 5:40 p.m.

Troopers said the investigation showed a woman driving a 2000 GMC Sierra tried to make a left turn from southbound US 129 onto Blackstock Road, but she failed to yield to a northbound 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer.

The vehicles struck head-on in the northbound lanes of the roadway, according to information released by GSP Post 6 in Gainesville.

The driver of the truck was identified as Irma Valle, 52 of Everson, WA. She sustained minor injuries in the crash and was charged with failure to yield while turning left. A passenger in Valle's vehicle, Julian Villafuerte, 49, of Lavonia sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

GSP said the driver of the tractor-trailer, 64-year-old Harvey Mays of Taylorsville, NC, was not injured.
