*The WorkSource Georgia Mountains Career Coach will visit the Spout Springs Library on Wednesday, February 13, from 10 AM – 2 PM.   Georgia Mountains representative will be available to help attendees search and apply for jobs, write resumes and cover letters, discern their career interests, and learn about funded training opportunities. 

*Cornelia's annual "Tacky Prom" will be held at the Cornelia Community House Feb. 15 8:00-11:00.  This year's theme is "80s."  Participants are asked to don their best 80s gear, complete with puffed sleeves, leotards, bangs, etc. For more information, contact the city's Community Development Manager at 706-778-8585, ext. 280, or email at [email protected].

*U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., has appointed George Moore, a high school junior from Toccoa, to participate in the U.S. Senate Page Program. Moore is serving as a Senate page for this year's spring semester, which runs from Jan. 28 through June 7.

*Award-winning poet  Marilyn Chin, the 2018 Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, will visit the Gainesville and Dahlonega campuses of the University of North Georgia.  Chin has won five Pushcart Prize, numerous fellowships and a prestigious Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for her work on confronting racism.  Chin will be on the Dahlonega campus Feb. 5 at 5:00 p.m. and on the Gainesville campus Feb. 6, 12:00 p.m.  For more information about Chin and her UNG appearances, click here.
