Another donation leads to another upgrade of South Hall's Roberts cabin

Thanks to another generous donation, the Col. James Roberts cabin at Cherokee Bluffs Park in South Hall looks even more historically accurate.

Murray and Daphne David recently donated an authentic 1800s rope bed to the cabin. It is a family heirloom that has been in Mr. David's family for generations. His mother was born in the bed in 1910.

Mr. David (pictured) strung the bed by hand when installing it at the cabin, using a handmade bed key like the ones that would have been used in the 1800s.

Additionally, the David family donated a replica 1800s privacy screen/quilt rack, which Mr. David made by hand using the craftsmen methods of the era.

"Hall County Parks and Leisure would like to express many heartfelt thanks to the David family for this extremely generous and very special donation," said Becky Ruffner, Hall County Parks and Leisure Public Relations Specialist.

The cabin is the former home of Col. Roberts, a Revolutionary War veteran, and his descendants.

The latest donation comes just a month after the donation of replica rocking chairs by Col. Roberts' descendants.
