The Georgia State Patrol said it received information Monday morning that Sametrice Antwon Johnson sucummed to the injuries he suffered in the Sunday afternoon wreck in Banks County.
ORIGINAL STORY 8:17 a.m.:
A Commerce woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Banks County Sunday afternoon.
The Georgia State Patrol said 27-year-old Laquesha Breshay Smith was a front-seat passenger in a Nissan Sentra that ran a stop sign at the intersection of Ga. 164 and Ga. 59 in front of Homer Grocery. The Sentra was hit on the passenger said by an oncoming Dodge Dakota.
The driver of the Sentra, identified as Sametrice Antwon Johnson, 27, of Athens sustained serious life-threatening injuries in the crash, according to troopers. Johnson at last report remained at Athens Regional Hospital.
The occupants of the Dodge Dakota were not seriously injured, according to troopers.
No charges are pending in the collision.
The fatal accident was reported just after 3:30 p.m.
