Alpharetta police rescue woman from large road sign over GA 400

By AccessWDUN Staff

For more than two hours Wednesday morning, police negotiators worked to rescue a woman who had climbed onto a road sign over GA 400 at Haynes Bridge Road.

According to social media posts from the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, negotiators arrived at the scene around 6:30 a.m. after they received reports of the woman climbing the sign.

Almost immediately, lanes were closed to southbound traffic. Rush hour traffic remained closed until just after 8 a.m. when police were able to begin diverting traffic onto Haynes Bridge Road.

Some 30 minutes late, negotiators were able to bring the woman to safety. GA 400 was re-opened to traffic at 8:58 a.m.

Alpharetta authorities have not indicated why the woman climbed the road sign. They have not released her name.
