Hall County authorities have released more information on two drug arrests that were made Thursday at a senior living center on Enota Avenue in Gainesville.

Agents with the county's Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad arrested Maxey Lee McGill, 39, of Gainesville, and Lewonia Sue Defevers, 45, of Gainesville, during an investigation that began in December, according to a news release issued Friday afternoon.

McGill and Defevers, both employees of Ashton Senior Living, were taken into custody at about 1:00 Thursday afternoon.

McGill faces felony charges of possession of fentanyl and two counts of fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance. According to investigators, McGill was found in possession of hydrocodone and a vial of morphine. The drugs belonged to two patients at the facility. In addition, officers say they found fentanyl patches in McGill’s vehicle.

Defevers is charged with felony possession of morphine. Investigators found her in possession of a vial of morphine that belonged to a former patient at the facility who is now deceased.

The case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, although no further arrests are expected at this time.
