Soccer: Lakeview girls remain in first with win over PAC; Branch girls blank Chestatee

ATHENS – The Lakeview girls soccer team remains atop of the Region 8-A standings with a 5-3 win over Prince Avenue Christian Tuesday afternoon on the road. 

After giving up an early goal, the Lady Lions (5-2,  2-0) found the net when Millie Filson found Sara Nivens for the tying goal.  Lauren Scott pushed the Lady Lions to the lead when she scored soon after off a cross from Nivens.  

Millie Filson then scored twice to give Lakeview a 4-1 lead at halftime.   

Prince would not go quietly as they scored off a corner kick in the second half to make it 4-2, but minutes later Millie Filson answered scoring off a Lakeview corner kick.  

Prince scored off a free kick to with seconds remaining, closing the gap 5-3.

Lakeview will host George Walton Academy Friday at 5 p.m.

CHESTATEE 0

Maggie Wadsworth scored two goals to lead the Lady Falcons past Chestatee Tuesday afternoon on the road. 

McKenzie Kent and Anna Grady each scored for the Lady Falcons. 

Larsyn Reid assisted on two goals and Kent and Wadsworth each had two assists. 

The Lady Falcons (5-2-1, 2-0) will travel to Furman University on Friday to play Eastside, SC at 5:30 p.m.

Chestatee (2-6, 0-2) will travel to Denmark Friday. Game time is 8 p.m.
