Barrow County Emergency Services recently received notification that the department's ISO rating has improved yet again.
"Our department has worked hard to improve our rating, which will in turn save our citizens money on insurance," Barrow County EMSChief Alan Shuman in a press statement. "The final rating gives Barrow County Emergency Services a 3/3X in the Public Protection Class."
The ISO rating is based on various areas of fire protection including personnel, apparatus, training, water supply and fire and life safety prevention/education.
The new rating will be effective on July 1, 2019. After that date, citizens protected by the fire department are encouraged to contact their home and business insurance companies to let them know about the change and see what savings those insurance agencies might offer them.
"The reduction from a 4/4X to a 3/3X could result in a significant insurance premium cost reduction for many of our residents and commercial property owners," said Barrow County Manager Mike Renshaw. "I want to thank Chief Shuman and all of his staff, for the hard work that went into our last ISO/PPC system review."
