Hall County plans Crime Victims' Rights Week ceremony on Friday

By AccessWDUN Staff

As part of National Crime Victims' Rights Week, the office of the Hall County Solicitor and the the Hall County District Attorney have planned a special ceremony in downtown Gainesville in honor of crime victims.

This year's ceremony is scheduled for Friday, April 12 at 11:15 a.m. in Roosevelt Square just behind the Hall County Courthouse Annex. The ceremony is open to the public.

The annual ceremony is part of the effort to keep the community engaged in the process of protecting victims of violent crime.

National Crime Victims' Rights Week is April 7-14, 2019. This year's theme is "Honoring Our Past, Creating Hope for the Future."

"This event will reflect that theme - making sure to honor the past victims of crimes, but also offer a message of hope for the future. We will celebrate the investment communities can make in crime victims to share their stories, connect with services and get the support they need," said Hall County Solicitor General Stephanie Woodard.

The special week of commemoration has been held in April every year since 1981.
