A man was injured when a tree fell on his truck in Jackson County during stormy weather Friday morning.
Bryan Bullock, Deputy Director of Jackson County Emergency Management, said a passerby on Apple Valley Road called 911 after seeing the vehicle crushed under the large tree.
"The driver was just driving down the road, a large tree just fell over and trapped him in his vehicle," Bullock said. "He's conscious, he's stable, so they're just taking him for observation."
The incident happened around 10 a.m. near Highway 82 in the Commerce area. Bullock said Apple Valley Road would be closed for an extended time while the tree and the wreck truck are removed.
Bullock said it's a good idea for people to stay off the roads as clean-up efforts continue following Friday's storms.
"If you're at home, stay home. If you don't have to get out, don't get out. We're all working hard to just to get everything cleared up," Bullock said.
Authorities did not release the name of the injured man.
