A University of Georgia student was last reported in critical condition following a shooting near campus Monday morning.
Athens-Clarke County Police Department spokesman Geoffrey Gilland told Georgia News Network officers were called to a location on South Milledge Avenue around 7:15 a.m. to investigate an armed robbery. On the way to the call, they discovered a a 22-year-old man in the same vicinity suffered from gunshot wounds.
Gilland said local police and the GBI are looking for a black male suspect with dreadlocks or twists. He was reported to be driving a white Ford Mustang, possibly a late 2000s model.
The name of the injured student has not been released.
