Groundbreaking set for new industrial park on south end of Forsyth County

By AccessWDUN Staff

The project was approved last fall by Forsyth County commissioners, but a new industrial business development on Shiloh Road is ready to move forward next month.

Dexter Companies said in a press statement issued Monday that groundbreaking on two of the three buildings will take place in May.

The new development will be built on 51 acres in the Meadows campus and will total 404,800 square feet of business space once everything is complete. Dexter Companies said the goal is to fully build out the project within three years.

Once the project is complete, it will contain enough space to support between 800-1,000 jobs, according to the developer.

"We encourage residents to join us in welcoming this development to our community," said District 2 Commissioner Dennis Brown in a press statement. "This is an exciting development by a premier company – one that will enhance the overall balance between residential and commercial development in south Forsyth. Dexter’s presence in our community will help enhance our strategic position, enabling us to continue to attract top-quality companies and jobs to Forsyth County."

The three buildings will be available for single or multi-tenants in need of distribution, light manufacturing/assembly, and office space. The anticipated real property investment is estimated at more than $35 million.

"We are excited that Dexter Companies selected Forsyth County to develop this much needed industrial flex product," said Robert Long, Vice President of Economic Development, Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce. “When they break ground in May, we will have two of the largest available buildings along the Georgia 400 corridor under construction."

"The Forsyth 400 corridor demands more high-quality industrial buildings for businesses seeking to tap into the metro area’s finest work force that yearns to work closer to their home,” said Blake Dexter, President of Dexter Companies.

Dexter Companies was founded in 1973 and has developed other projects in North Georgia and Metro Atlanta, including the 1.2 million square-foot Gwinnett Corporate Center business park, the 925,000 square foot Kennesaw 75 business park and the 30-story Peachtree Summit office building in downtown Atlanta.
