More historic brick uncovered on Gainesville's Main Street

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

More historic brick was recently uncovered on Main Street in Gainesville, as the road is prepped for final paving work.

City work crews made a similar discovery several months ago during work on a part of Main Street.

According to a posting on the city's Facebook page, the section of Main Street in front of Hunt Tower, where the brick was uncovered, will be closed until Memorial Day Weekend, but the Main Street parking deck remains open.

Meantime, the city is looking to the public for ways to reuse the old brick in the downtown area, "maybe in a renovated alley," according to the Facebook note.
