CLARKESVILLE – The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and Habersham County Coroner’s Office have released more details of a deadly Thursday-night shooting.
Deputies and emergency personnel responded to 3848 Antioch Church Road, a Toccoa address near Rock Road in Habersham County, regarding a possible aggravated assault.
“Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject lying on the ground outside the residence,” the joint statement issued Friday states. “The male, later identified as Roger Dale Littleton, 56, of Toccoa in Habersham County, had been involved in an argument with Jerry Nathaniel Wall, 53, of Toccoa, in Habersham County. The argument escalated and resulted in Littleton being shot. Littleton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire.”
Wall was taken into custody without incident at the scene, Sheriff's Capt. Floyd Canup said from the scene.
Littleton’s body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation State Crime Lab in Decatur for further examination, McEntire said Friday morning.
Wall has been charged with one count of aggravated assault, and additional charges are possible, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, which is continuing to probe the incident.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of everyone involved in this tragic situation,” McEntire said Friday.
