Two men from North Georgia are among Gov. Brian Kemp's latest appointees to state boards.
Jud Smith, the Sheriff of Barrow County, has been appointed to the board of Commissioners of the Sheriffs' Retirement Fund. Smith earned a master's degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University in 2006. He lives in Winder with his wife, Stephanie, and they have two children
Steve Syfan of Gainesville has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Syfan is the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Syfan Logistics and Turbo Truck Center in Gainesville. He started in the logistics field in 1984 with his brother Greg and his father Jim. He has two children and two grandchildren. He and his wife, Kim, reside in Gainesville.
Kemp's office announced the appointments, along with others from across the state, on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
