A $5.3 million contract has been awarded for the construction of a new bridge on Georgia 11 over the Apalachee River on the Barrow-Walton county line.
The project is one of 13 approved earlier this month by the Georgia Department of Transportation Board of Directors for work totaling more than $37 million. It is the largest - in monetary terms - of those that were approved.
The work is expected to be completed Oct. 31, 2020, according to a GDOT news release issued last Friday.
The low bidder was E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc., of Snellville.
