Two people are recovering after being injured in a traffic accident on Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville Friday afternoon.
The Georgia State Patrol released details about the accident late Saturday.
Sgt. C.E. Parker says the two-vehicle crash occurred at Lake Ranch Court.
"The investigation determined a white Toyota Tundra was traveling west on Dawsonville Hwy, attempting to turn left onto Lake Ranch Court," Sgt. Parker wrote in an email. "The driver of the Toyota, Martin Serna, 53, from Gainesville failed to yield while turning left and entered the path of an eastbound Volvo 960. The Toyota struck the left front of the Volvo, causing the Volvo to travel over a retaining wall on the south side of Dawsonville Hwy."
Sgt. Parker says the Volvo then caught fire.
"A witness removed the driver of the Volvo, Dakota Chance, 24, of Dawsonville (from the burning vehicle.) Mr. Chance was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A passenger of the Toyota was also transported with minor injuries."
