The Hispanic Alliance expected a big crowd at Latino Fest on the downtown Gainesville Square this past Sunday, and organizers were not disappointed.
Hundreds, if not thousands, crowded the streets from 5 to 9 p.m. for the second annual event, which served as the regional kick-off for Hispanic Heritage Month. The heritage and culture of the Latino community is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
Hispanic Alliance Georgia Director Vanesa Sarazua said the group will continue commemorating the month in collaboration with Gainesville High School’s H.O.P.E. club (Hispanic Organization Promoting Education) with a community movie night at GHS in mid-October.
