Dawson County workshop destroyed by early-morning fire

By B.J. Williams

A 2,500 square foot workshop was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning in Dawson County.

Interim Division Chief Jason Dooley said in an email statement Dawson County Emergency Services responded to the fire at 1336 Hanging Dog Rd just after 2:30 a.m.

"Arriving units found an approximately 2,500 sq ft workshop with flames through the roof," Dooley said. "Crews had the fire under control in about an hour."

Dooley said the shop and its contents were a total loss. He said there were several recreational vehicles inside the building and a work truck parked next to the building that were destroyed.

"Forsyth County Fire Department assisted in battling the blaze by providing an engine crew and a water tender," Dooley said.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
