A Lawrenceville man has been arrested in connection with a string of bank robberies in Gwinnett County.
The FBI on Monday announced the arrest of Eric Letman, 55. Letman was taken into custody on Friday, Oct. 30 by officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department.
A media statement from the FBI said a teller at a bank in Dacula noticed a suspicious vehicle driving around the bank. The teller recognized it as the suspect vehicle from news reports last Wednesday on four previous robberies. The teller called 911, and when officers arrived and stopped the vehicle, they found evidence connected to the four armed robberies.
Agents said last week the suspect in the case had entered the banks armed with a handgun and had fired shots inside three of the four banks he robbed.
The armed robberies took place between June and October. On June 15, the PNC Bank on Old Peachtree Road in Lawrenceville was robbed; on August 26, the Regions Bank on Gravel Springs Road in Dacula was robbed; pm August 27, the Banks of the Ozarks on Grayson Highway was robbed; and on Oct. 26, the suspect returned to the PNC Bank on Old Peachtree Road and robbed the facility again.
No one was injured in any of the hold-ups.
