Georgia Grown To Go holds final pop up market of the year at Cool Ray Field

Georgians looking to prepare a Thanksgiving meal with Georgia products can get some help this Saturday from the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

 

Georgia Grown To Go ends the 2020 season on Saturday, Nov. 21 with a final pop-up market at Coolray Field in Gwinnett County.

 

Paul Thompson, Division Director for the Marketing Division of the Georgia Department of Agriculture, said the pop-up markets have been a quick and easy way for people to get a good sampling of Georgia products in one stop. For Thanksgiving, he said they'll have everything from protein to produce to gift items.

 

"We're going to have poultry for sale - that'll be frozen hens - we're going to have Georgia citrus available...we've got two different types of pecans that will be for sale, we'll have Georgia beef there, preserves, jelly, honey, salsa, cheese straws and barbecue sauces," Thompson said.

 

One of the most popular items at the pop-up markets have been the fresh produce boxes, which are available for $20.

 

Thompson said agriculture department officials will ensure all health protocols are followed for the event.

 

"It will be a contactless farmer's market, if you will," Thompson said, noting that orders are taken in advance and customers can simply drive up and pick up their items. "We'll load your car and wish you a good day and send you on your way with a full offering of Georgia-grown goodies for Thanksgiving."

 

Agriculture Department officials said customers can also support their community this Thanksgiving season by donating a produce box. Gwinnett County will work with community partners of Gwinnett Cares to provide items to local nonprofits, co-ops and faith-based facilities.
