A Habersham County traffic stop that eventually led to a months-long drug investigation has resulted in a married couple facing trafficking charges.

Clarkesville residents Andrew Nelson Dover, 43, and Alisha Gay Dover, 38, face charges of Trafficking Heroin following the traffic stop on November 20.

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) says the pair were stopped in the Baldwin area on Highway 365 at Wilbanks Road, with Alisha Dover eventually being charged with various traffic violations, including a charge of Driving While Under the Influence.

The traffic stop resulted in 56 grams of heroin being discovered inside the couple's vehicle, and both suspects were taken to the Habersham County Jail.

ARDEO said the drugs has a street value of roughly $11,200.

A subsequent investigation, which was said to have lasted 5 months, later revealed that the suspects had traveled to Atlanta to pick up the heroin prior to being stopped, a discovery that resulted in the trafficking charges.

Anyone aware of ongoing suspicious drug activity is being urged by ARDEO to contact the organization via Facebook Messenger or by calling 706-348-7410.
