Ellijay man charged with leaving the scene of deadly pedestrian crash

At last report, an Ellijay man remained in jail in Cherokee County, charged with hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene of the incident.

The Woodstock Police Department, in a social media post, announced the arrest of Tracy Lee Wilson, 47, in connection with a crash that killed Sarahfina Okole, 18.

The young woman was struck by Wilson's vehicle on Monday, Feb. 3 around 6:50 a.m. on Highway 92 at Sharon Way, according to the information posted to Facebook. When authorities arrived, they found Okole seriously injured. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died from he injuries. 

Investigators said they followed up on leads provided by witnesses and were able to find Wilson at a local business. He was arrested and charged with felony hit and run; other charges may be forthcoming. 

Wilson was last reported to be incarcerated at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with an $8,450 bond.
