A Suwanee woman is dead and her son has been arrested in her death, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Authorities have identified the victim as Myung Kim, 81, and the suspect as Otto Kim, 45. The two apparently became involved in some sort of domestic dispute Sunday night, which led to the suspect killing the victim.
According to the police report, officers responded at 8:17 p.m. to a call of a man running into oncoming traffic at Buford Highway and Suwanee Creek Road.
"The male intentionally ran into vehicles that were traveling on the roadway," said police in a press statement. "When officers arrived on scene the 45-year-old male suspect told them that he had just killed his mother."
Officers said the man provided them with an address, and when officers got to the residence on Chelsea Falls Lane in unincorporated Suwanee, they found the victim suffering from injuries to her face. Initial reports said the woman had been stabbed in the throat; however, officers later determined the woman had been severely beaten.
Myung Kim was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Police said the suspect and the victim lived together at the residence where the crime occurred.
As of Monday morning, Otto Kim remained in the Gwinnett County Jail charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
