*Hardman Farm State Historic Site March-April Calendar of Events.
*Gainesville High School theatre students recently participated in the Georgia Thespian Conference and were selected to perform "Footloose" as a featured group. The troupe received Superior ratings for the production "Baby, That's Rock and Roll". Isabella Owens and Lexie Richemond earned $2,000 for their auditions for college scholarships. Lexie and Nickolas Gonzalez were also recognized for their work as Stage Managers for "Footloose" for their knowledge and skills in technical theatre.
*Tim and Jan Armour of Cornelia are new members of the American Angus Association.
*Northeast Georgia Physicians Group will open NGPG Pulmonology will open Monday at 1315 Jesse Jewel Parkway in Gainesville.
*The Piedmont College Cycling program contributed to some volunteer work at Lake Russell a week ago. Lake Russell is where many of the college's cyclists and community cyclists ride mountain bike trails and gravel roads throughout the year. The Piedmont group along with some locals cleaned up trails, updated current trails and helped with the creation of a new trail.
*Members of the Flowery Branch High School Beta Club spent some time a week ago on some trails cleanup at the Hall County Government Center.
*This year marks the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote. To mark that milestone, Dr. Marjorie J. Spruill, distinguished professor emerita from the University of South Carolina and author or editor of six books on the subject, will lecture at the University of North Georgia March 9, 5:00, on the Dahlonega Campus and March 10, 6:00, on the Gainesville campus. Receptions will be held 30 minutes prior to each event.
*"Engineering Georgia” names 9th District Georgia Department of Transportation Board member Emily Dunn of Fannin County to this year's list of its “100 Influential Women in Engineering.”
