Baseball: Bluff blasts Dawson; Jefferson rolls past Monroe Area

FLOWERY BRANCH — Cherokee Bluff rocked Dawson County for 14 runs on just six hits en route to a 14-2 rout of the Tigers in five innings at home on Monday. 

Jackson Kemp drove in four of the 14 runs to lead the Bears at the plate in the Region 7-3A win. 

Reece Chambers, Dylan Kautz, Tyler Zawacki and Caleb Piland all drove in two runs each.

Chandler Shope earned the win on the hill for the Bears, going five innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out six. 

Andrew Burt drove in the Tigers only two runs with a 1-for-2 day in the box. The Tigers left six runners on base. 

The Tigers used four pitchers in the loss with Hudson Sapp getting the start, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on three hits and recording seven strikeouts.

The Dragons (9-4, 3-0 Region 8-3A) scattered nine runs over seven innings to win their third straight Region 8-3A win and beat Monroe Area on the road Monday. 

Austin Bell was the winning pitching with 6 2/3 innings of work, allowing four runs -- 2 earned -- on three hits while striking out five. 

Cole Watkins was 2-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Dragons at the plate. Rem Maxwell recorded 2 RBIs, and Trey McEver and Nick Sellers drove in one each.
