HICKORY, N.C. — University of North Georgia women's basketball player Julianne Sutton was named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region first team, the association announced Thursday morning.

A first-team All-Peach Belt honoree and the league's, Sutton led the Peach Belt Conference in scoring with 18.3 points per game this season, a number that rose to 19.4 against league opponents. The junior forward from Flowery Branch, Georgia, has scored in double figures in every game so far this year and is third in the league in field goal percentage. A PBC Player of the Week on February 10, Sutton is also sixth in the league in blocks, had four double-doubles and passed 1,000 career points.

Sutton is the first D2CCA All-Region honoree since Kelsey Hutchins in the 2015-16 season and the ninth overall. Eight of those nine have been named to the first team and became eligible for All-American status.

Sutton is joined on the first team by Lander's Jessica Harris, Barton's Shanika Peterkin, Carson-Newman's Kayla Marosites and Anderson's Alexy Mollenhauer. Mollenhauer was named the region player of the year.

UNG will be in action tomorrow against Clayton State in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast Regional at 2:30 p.m.
