*North Georgia Technical College recently hosted a community fundraiser “Green, Jeans & Irish Cuisine” and raised more than $10,000 for the North Georgia Technical College Foundation, benefiting the college’s culinary arts program on the Currahee and Blairsville campuses.

*The Smithgall Woods and Hardman Farm Visitor Centers & Parks will continue to stay open during normal operational hours daily. 

*All Lumpkin County government buildings will be closed to the public beginning Monday, March 23.

*A former Flowery Branch resident named by North Georgia Technical College its 2020 Exceptional Adult Education Literacy Education winner.   Vincent Sandlin now lives in Cleveland.  The EAGLE award is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities available in local communities across the state and to foster involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.

*Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School science teacher Nicole Ager recently took part in “A Forest for Every Classroom,” hosted by the Georgia Mountains Children’s Forest Network.  Ager spent the weekend of March 7-8 backpacking in Northeast Georgia with other educators, brainstorming how to get their students outside to learn.

*Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School senior and flutist Simon Park has been named to the All-State Band.

*Braselton officials hosted a ceremonial ribbon-cutting for Crossroads Spine and Wellness recently.

*Scotland Avenue at Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville will be closed Monday and Tuesday because of ongoing construction at the intersection.
