By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

CLEVELAND – The White County Commission on Monday unanimously approved a hiring contract for Jason Lee Cobb as county manager.

The contract, approved during a teleconference meeting, included a total compensation package of $115,000, with $110,000 as the annual salary and a $5,000 one-time relocation allowance.

Cobb, who currently serves as city manager in Eastman, attended the meeting via teleconference.

“I would like to thank you guys for the opportunity for me and my family to be making the trip up to White County,” Cobb said. “Very excited about the opportunity, a lot of growth in the community, just excited to take this on and can't wait to get up there.”

Cobb’s official start date will be April 27.

“We look forward to the knowledge and experience Jason brings to White County and to him and his family becoming part of our community,” said Commission Chairman Travis Turner.

Commissioners also expressed their appreciation to Michael Melton for his work as county manager during the past eight years and congratulated him on his upcoming retirement, which is effective April 30.
