Government leaders in Barrow County are preparing for the partial reopening of government offices next week.
The Phase 1 reopening plan begins Monday, May 11, 2020, according to information released by the Office of the Barrow County Manager.
"The past several weeks have been extremely challenging as we have all joined the battle against COVID-19," the statement said. "The impacts of the virus have been far-reaching, not the least of which has been the closure of many County buildings and facilities to public access. We have greatly appreciated the public’s support and patience as we have navigated through these difficult and unprecedented times."
Phase 1 of controlled access include the follow Barrow County buildings:
- Barrow County Historic Courthouse at 30 North Broad Street
- County Manager/County Clerk
- Economic Development
- Planning & Community Development (Licensing & Permits, Zoning)
- Public Works (Transportation, Stormwater)
- Tax Commissioner’s Office (Property Tax, Vehicle Tag & Tax)
- Barrow County Utilities Billing at 625 SR211 NE
Any visitors to county facilities must wear protective face coverings until further notice. They must also sanitize their hands at the stations provided before entering any building. Visitors must also maintain a social distance of at least six feet from other people.
The Senior Center and Parks & Recreation facilities and sports fields will remain closed until further notice. The Board of Commissioners monthly meeting, as well as the monthly Planning Commission meeting, will continue to be conducted remotely until further notice.
