A local committee tasked with educating Hall County's Latino community on the dangers of COVID-19 has organized a free testing event for the virus on Friday, May 15.
The Gainesville Against COVID-19 Task Force is coordinating efforts with the District 2 Public Health office to collect specimens for testing in the La Flor De Jalisco shopping center parking lot at 425 Atlanta Highway in Gainesville. Atlanta Highway is considered a business hub for Hall County's Latino community.
Anyone who wants to be tested can drive through or walk up between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to an online flyer shared by task force members.
The specimen collection takes place the same day state officials are scheduled to travel to Gainesville to get an update from the task force on its education efforts.
