Lanier Christian Academy, a private school in Hall County, has decided to open its campus on Aug. 7, 2020 for the school year.
Lanier Christian Academy Head of School Dwayne Daniels made the announcement in a written statement on Monday, June 1, 2020.
"We will begin at our planned time with teachers and students in the classrooms unless it is illegal to do so," Daniels said. "We will modify and adjust our daily routines, procedures, and protocols to promote student and staff health and wellness."
Acknowledging that the coronavirus may still be a health issue in the fall, Daniels said the school would use guidelines from the healthcare community as reopening steps are finalized. Daniels said the school would take "the wise and prudent measures to ensure the health and safety of all of its students and employees."
LCA is making plans to achieve the proper social distancing in areas suggested by the CDC. With the average student-teacher ratio being about 16:1, the academy believes it will be able to provide the protection and the education desired by parents without split classes or daily schedules that are not suitable for parents’ schedules, particularly if both spouses are working.
