Marion Merck, first elected coroner of Hall County in 1989, has won yet another term in office.
The 81-year-old Merck handily won re-election with almost 75% of the vote.
"I'm so proud and honored that the people of Hall County elected me back and I will do the best that I can in the next four years," Merck said late Tuesday night.
Merck reiterated what he told AccessWDUN in a pre-election interview - he wants the coroner's office to be much more than an office that conducts death investigations.
"What we want to do is get more involved with the Georgia Eye Bank and Georgia Life Link...so that we also save lives as part of the investigations," said Merck. "I want this to be the number one coroner's office in the state."
Additional absentee ballots were being calculated overnight by the Hall County Elections Office. The additional absentee votes are not expected to change the outcome of the election, but please check back in the morning for complete numbers.
